An attorney can help navigate these complicated waters.

Adoption, Paternity, Foster care, Paternity actions, Paternity proceedings, Alternative dispute resolution.

Adoption

While the decision to adopt a child is often a heart-warming one, the process can be complicated. Adoption involves complex laws, extensive paperwork, potential disputes, and possible biological parents who object to adoption.

Paternity

When there is a child, it’s important to determine who the father is. This will help determine the parenting time and the custody arrangement. A father must contribute to the child’s upbringing and pay child support. There are many different legal issues involving paternity, so having an attorney represent you is important.

Foster care

When a couple files for divorce, many children may be placed in foster care. Foster care is an alternative to divorce, which puts the child’s well-being and stability first. However, divorce proceedings can be very stressful on both parties, making it difficult to focus on fostering duties.

Paternity actions

A paternity action is the process used to establish parental rights for a child. Paternity cases are complicated and require the expertise of a family lawyer. At David Chico Law Group, we represent mothers seeking to prove or refute paternity, and we guide our clients through the process.

Paternity proceedings

Paternity is an issue that can arise in a variety of family law situations. For example, a mother may need to establish paternity in order to receive child support or visitation rights. A father may also need to establish paternity in order to receive health benefits or inheritance from a large estate. However, there are many other reasons why a mother or father may need to establish paternity. In such cases, a paternity petition may be filed. If the father disagrees, he can contest paternity.

Alternative dispute resolution

The alternative dispute resolution process is a way for couples to settle their differences outside of court. This method involves two parties discussing the issues in a private setting, which is often more relaxed and private. It can help couples reach an agreement faster and retain more control over the terms of their divorce.
